Active Release Technique

A soft tissue treatment protocol using separate training outside of chiropractic school that compliments chiropractic care.

FAKTR-PM stands for “Functional And Kinetic Treatment with Rehabilitation, Provocation and Motion.” It was developed to help speed recovery from chronic musculoskeletal pain syndromes and has also been shown to work extremely well to treat acute musculoskeletal/fascial conditions.

FAKTR-PM involves the combination of several different forms of therapy. Instrument assisted soft tissue mobilization (IASTM) is used to locate and remove myofascial adhesions or restrictions. This is combined with rehabilitation exercises to strengthen the tissues while restrictions are being removed. FAKTR-PM also allows the patient to be treated in a position of provocation. This means that the patient is treated in a position that causes symptoms like pain, tightness, or stiffness. By treating patients in a position of provocation, the provider is able to locate and treat the problem that is causing the symptoms.

One-To-Zero (OTZ) Health Education Systems trains licensed chiropractors in the OTZ Method’s “top-down analysis” which involves specific correction of the occipital-atlanto subluxation and then moves down sequentially through the spine. Emphasis is also placed on anterior cervical adjusting and also the difficult cervicothorasic junction (C7-T4). In OTZ land we call the cervicothorasic area “the vault” because it can be difficult to adjust. The occipital-atlanto subluxation pattern, known as the Hatcher-Murphy Subluxation, is explored in great detail. Resolution of this subluxation can have profound effects on brainstem nuclei, especially cranial nerve 11 which is involved in Frozen Shoulder Syndrome and cranial nerve 10 which, through the poly vagal response, can have profound effects on children with developmental delays. Chiropractic functional neurology is discussed during the seminars to explain how this method of analysis and treatment can affect conditions such as Frozen Shoulder Syndrome, Migraine Headache, Vertigo, Insomnia, Bell’s palsy, Autism, ADHD, posture, as well as others.

Effectively Treating Acute and Chronic Injuries

Graston Technique® is an innovative, patented form of instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization that enables clinicians to effectively break down scar tissue and fascial restrictions. The technique utilizes specially designed stainless steel instruments to specifically detect and effectively treat areas exhibiting soft tissue fibrosis or chronic inflammation.

Sports Injury Treatment

Using the combination of chiropractic and ART allows us to analyze bio-mechanically what is "causing" the injury, which helps us provide precise treatment to help the athlete heal.

Sports Enhancement

Using extensive background in body bio-mechanics allows us to keep the athletes body functioning at an optimum level, adding special exercises and stretches to complement.

Gait Analysis

Abililty to dissect the gait of our patient, while running and/or walking.

Kinesiology

A practice of using manual muscle-strength testing for help in determining the best therapy. It purportedly gives feedback on the functional status of the body.

Dynamic Assessment

Extended private consultation with Dr. for a complete analysis of any topic going beyond the basic chiropractic treatment plan.

What is Laser Therapy?
Laser therapy uses infrared wavelengths of laser light applied directly to the body, and applied
painlessly and quickly to the afflicted areas. Laser therapy has often been described as warm and soothing, as the infrared light emits a small amount of heat during application.

How does Laser Therapy Work?
Laser stimulates tissues at the cellular level. The production of ATP or cellular energy is increased due to increased metabolic activity within any type of cell, along with an increase in the transportation of nutrients across the cell membranes. This molecular transformation optimizes the healing process and reduces pain, thus restoring proper function and performance of the affected area.

Benefits of Laser Therapy
Along with laser therapy being a drug free option, laser also reduces inflammation and swelling, along with stiffness and pain. Laser therapy also increases circulation which enhances tissue repair. Since laser therapy works at the cellular level, any affliction from bone fractures, soft tissue, muscle, plus tendon and joint issues can benefit from laser.

Other laser facts:

* There are no side effects using laser therapy.
*Typical treatment time requires only 4-8 minutes depending on the area being treated.
*Chronic issues usually require more treatments than acute injuries, but many people
feel some degree of improvement after one treatment!
* Laser therapy is safe to use with other treatment options such as massage therapy, chiropractic, acupuncture, physical therapy, acoustic compression and prolotherapy.
*Post-surgery patients have benefited from a reduction in scar tissue and increased scar repair with laser therapy.

Here is a small example of afflictions helped by laser therapy:

-Tendonitis -Neuralgia

-Carpal Tunnel Syndrome -Fibromyalgia

-Tennis Elbow -Burns, Cuts and Open Wounds

-Ligament Sprains -Sports Injuries

-Muscle Strains -Venous Ulcers

-Repetitive Stress Injuries -Low back issues

-Plantar Fasciitis -Bone Fractures

-Rheumatoid Arthritis management -Osteoarthritis
